I was first introduced to this hole in the wall when I worked at a previous job. What a pleasant surprise! On the outside, The Mucky Ducky looks like a dirty, musty, abandoned little shack on Norfolk. But, it turns out that it is a fun-filled, half-way clean good time! This little Irish pub is such a great place to knock back a few after a long day of work. It's wonderful for happy hour or for an entire night out. I love the fact that a musician is featured daily and that the food isn't horrible. The drinks are not ridiculously expensive and the atmosphere is so cozy.
If you like to watch live music and hear local musicians, this is a great place. The acoustics are decent (unless you want to have a heart to heart conversation), the decor is charming and the waiters/waitresses/bartenders are as nice as can be!
If this sounds like your kind of place, but you prefer being outdoors and being able to hold a conversation, they have an adorable little sitting area in the back. I will say, the parking situation is pretty bad. So, your best bet might be to claim your spot in the morning and then cruise the city via Metro the rest of the day. Ok, totally kidding, it isn't New York, it's Houston. The only thing scarier than riding a city bus in Houston is missing out on a night at The Mucky Duck because you opted to go to Vintage down the street.....
