Let me just start by saying this, I cannot handle how fast my niece and nephews are growing up. It feels just like yesterday that little "Fattycakes" was crawling across the room to face plant into his "Ruff-ruff" or that Taylor ("Peanut") was running around saying "me no silly!". Now, both Taylor and Trevor are old enough to string together full sentences and walk on 2 feet and be independent and ignore me and realize I'm not cool and OH MY GOD I'M FREAKING OUT.
What's throwing me the most is the way they are each developing their own little personalities which are so vastly different. This became very clear when trying to take a picture of all 3 kids together for my blog. I would like to start by showing you the end product:
Isn't that sweet? It's a little grainy, but whatev, doesn't that look like it was so simple and that these 3 cousins love and enjoy each other's company so much and that nothing else in the world matters? NOTHING ELSE? Wrong.
Let me take you on a stroll of the previous shots. First, let's recall the end product. You'll note the baby in the picture, Brandon, is strapped into a carseat and has a pacifier shoved in his mouth. This was not a baby that was stoked about taking a family photo. This was a baby that was tired, angry, sick of his family passing him back and forth to be "oohed and aahed" at, and wanted to go home to his crib, ok? Evidence of this is fully apparent in the first attempt at a picture, as seen here:
Can somebody tell me what is up with Trevor's eyes?
Also, you will notice that in every single picture, Taylor is smiling as if she is on stage, being judged for a beauty pageant. As soon as you throw a camera in her face, she stops, poses and throws on her million dollar smile. It's stressing me out big time to see how beautiful she is and the lightning speed to which she is growing. I don't want her to date. I won't allow it.
The real "issue" with the taking of the family photo pretty much lies in the inability of Trevor to sit still for even 1 full second after eating sugar. There is really no way to explain it. I think the best thing to do is to show you:
This is Trevor, at Target, after a few sips of an Icee. Now, take that same child, put him at a family birthday party at Grandma's house with cake and all other sorts of sugary treats and you have just set yourself up for disaster if you want a simple family picture...
Here are some examples:
First, we tried to get him to sit down, but he would jump up and run around before I could snap the picture, as seen below:
You can tell by the look on Brandon's face that he is in awe of Trevor's super energy, however, Taylor makes it obvious she is just DONE with it.
Next, we tried to get him to FOCUS on Aunt Nellie and smile, but he was much too interested in talking to everyone else behind me:
Then, seriously, Brandon!! You couldn't look at the camera on this one! Aaarrggghhh!:
You'll also please note that Taylor nonchalantly has the death grip on Trevor with one of her hands (behind the carrier) in aformentioned photo.
Finally, we were able to get him to lighly place his hand on his brother's head, but this just looked stupid:
Trust me, there are about a billion more of these and I could go on for days, I just wanted to give you an idea of what I go through to update my right column for my lovely readers. Poor, poor me....
Also, for those reading and judging me (mom), I am aware this post as well as others are full of grammatical errors and major comma abuse. But, I'm tired when I write, so you will have to just live with it.
Next post will be on the best and worst drive thrus to get iced tea, I've become a connoisseur.
